Philosophy

Andrew Birds Core Design provides a highly crafted and creative approach to a wide range of architectural projects.

This is the culmination of many years involvement in prestigious projects as a senior designer with: Norman Foster; James Stirling; and Birds, Portchmouth, Russum (BPR) Architects.

Recent focus and expertise has been on high-end residential projects, particularly Listed Buildings. 

Great care and attention is given to navigating through the complex planning and Heritage process and on to the delivery of a holistic design solution.

This can involve everything from the exterior building fabric, through to the interior design and the design and installation of bespoke fitted furniture.

The result is award winners such as: Downley House, Hampshire.

Hand drawings by Andrew Birds (that have been published extensively) form an important part of the creative process that also includes highly engaging visualisations and working drawings.

 Now.

ABCD is now going through an exciting and challenging phase.

Having gained planning consent for a new build, private house in a beautiful East Hampshire village in the South Downs. We are currently going through detail design with construction commencing in early 2022.

On a similar time-frame we are executing the conversion of a 16th century Listed Cottage along with a new summer house outbuilding.

Another commission in the design phase is a new private house in the grounds of a Listed country house in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

We also have a couple of Listed building applications in place for interior conversions of properties in Brighton.
